Information about Enkhuizen

The history of the Dutch East India Company, or VOC for short, is still clearly visible in Enkhuizen. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the VOC was the largest trading company in the world that traveled with its beautiful ships to Asian countries to trade. Due to the favorable location on the IJsselmeer, it was attractive to establish a "Chamber" of the VOC here. The Drommedaris, the defense tower on the harbor, and the center with the historic buildings still remind of this prosperous time.
